In prison, Demarest is confronted by Butz (Rhino Michaels) and his two henchmen, the Tiger brothers (James Kim and Simon Kim). Later Morgana goes to Church to visit the priest tending the church, a man named Gregory (Paul Johannson), a former lover of Morgana's. Meanwhile, Morgana has been having dreams were sees glimpses of the Djinn in his true form. Demarest is put in a holding cell, where he kills a fellow prisoner who wishes to get out the cell. The Djinn assumes his Nathaniel Demarest persona and surrenders to the police.
As the police enter the museum, the Djinn finishes forming into full size, revealing the Djinn (Andrew Divoff). The Djinn escapes and kills the remaining burglar when he accidentally wishes he'd never been born. One of the burglars, a young woman named Morgana Truscott (Holly Fields), steals the gem and is forced to abandon her boyfriend during the escape. Its a fair timewaster if you were a massive fan of the original but other than that, its a no-brainer Popcorn Pictures.During an attempted robbery of a museum, the fire opal that contains the Djinn is accidentally released by a stray gunshot. The story is bitty, the acting is pretty dire (with the exception of Divoff ) and even the wishes seem to have lost their charm. The sequel only intermittently produces these a cool effect with the Wishmaster rebirthing by emerging out of a wall, a man being squeezed through the bars of a cell and none with the impact of the opening few minutes of Wishmaster.
Still, despite the Djinns power seeming less grand, star Andrew Divoff seems to have a much better handle on his character, and hes fabulous as the Djinn, who doesnt seem as much evil as he is just wicked. In his hands, what was, for the most part, a disappointing sequel is transformed into a worthwhile experience. You know, like the scene from the casino I thought was pretty good.
